Overview

The best way to truly experience Hoi An is by cycling from the historic district, crossing the river, and exploring the charming small villages and surrounding rural landscapes just beyond the busy tourist areas.
Our half-day cycling tour offers a deep dive into the culture, history, and daily life of Hoi An. Designed for all ages, including families and children, this tour showcases the tranquil rural scenery and authentic Vietnamese experience. As one guest said, “It’s like stepping back in time compared to the modern comforts of my hotel.” And yet, it’s just a short ride from Hoi An.
This is the side of Hoi An that the locals cherish: village life, artisans, cozy coffee shops, fishing ports, simple cuisine, religious customs, and a strong focus on family.
While the historic district of Hoi An is rightfully recognized by UNESCO, you can only truly understand life in this city by venturing across the river into the villages and countryside where most locals live.
Itinerary
Hoi An Countryside
Meet at your place. Your guide will help you with bike fitting, give a safety briefing, and provide an overview of the tour.
The tour begins by exploring the hidden passageways and winding alleys of Hoi An, with a stop to photograph the iconic Japanese bridge in the historic district. After crossing the canal bridge near the night market, we continue to the new metal bike bridge that links Hoi An with the southern villages of Quang Nam Province.

Soon after the bridge, we visit a local family making Banh Beo using traditional methods. These small, savory rice flour bowls are a common breakfast item in the countryside. We then ride to one of Hoi An’s most picturesque villages, where we’ll stop at a family home to learn about the tradition of family chapels. Our host, nearly 90 years old, vividly recalls his experiences during the American war.
As we pedal past rice fields and vegetable farms along small canals and waterways, we head towards a wooden boat-building site. Fishing remains vital to the province, and witnessing the construction of these ships is fascinating. If the timing is right, we may also see families gathered to clean fishing nets between sea journeys.

The roads narrow to concrete paths as we approach our final stops, which include a traditional mat weaving shop and a family distillery where rice wine has been made the same way for generations. Of course, samples will be provided.
From here, it’s a short ride to where we board a local ferry for a return trip to town. Have your cameras ready for great views of the Hoi An waterfront. Once we dock, it’s just a 5-minute ride through alleyways back to the office.

We conclude the tour with a short ferry ride back to the Hoi An waterfront. You can unwind at the shop with a complimentary drink from our ice-cold fridge—an enjoyable end to a delightful day of cycling in Hoi An.
